Frequently Asked Questions

Accl Speed Athletics Academy

Academic and Enrollment Questions

Q: Will my credits from Accl Speed Athletics Academy transfer to a public high school?
A: Potentially. Each school district has its own transfer credit policy. However, districts often accept credits when:

  • The course was taught by a licensed New Mexico educator, or
  • The course included instruction and assessments aligned to New Mexico content standards with evidence of student achievement.

We recommend families contact their local district’s registrar or counseling department to review course transfer eligibility.

Q: Can students participate in extracurricular activities at a local public school?
A: Yes. Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), students from private and exempt institutions may be eligible to participate in certain federally funded educational and extracurricular services offered by their public school district. Participation policies vary by district.

Q: Can students receive a high school diploma while attending Accl Speed Athletics Academy?
A: Students enrolled at ASAA can:

  • Transfer their coursework to a local public high school for diploma consideration, or
  • Complete their coursework and transfer it to an authorized diploma-granting partner (e.g., Penn Foster) for a formal high school diploma.

ASAA also awards its own Secondary Certificates of Completion, which reflect standards-based academic achievement.

Q: What is the difference between your certificate and a traditional high school diploma?
A: Accl Speed Athletics Academy awards institutional certificates that reflect rigorous, standards-aligned coursework, academic progress, and career preparation. We do not issue a state-recognized diploma (e.g., the New Mexico Diploma of Excellence), but our credentials are intentionally designed to exceed traditional minimum graduation requirements through higher academic, leadership, and life-readiness benchmarks.

Coursework and Certification

Q: What are CEUs?
A: CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are non-credit units awarded for participation in professional development or training programs. They are often accepted by employers, certification bodies, and continuing education programs to demonstrate upskilling or professional development.

Q: Can I take courses without a computer?
A: Yes, but a computer is highly recommended. You may use a tablet or smartphone, but some features (e.g., typing papers or navigating exams) work best on a desktop or laptop. In-person instruction is also available for eligible students.

Q: How long is my NASM certificate valid?
A: NASM certificates are valid for two years from the date of issuance.

Q: Will my NASM or AFAA certificate be recognized internationally?
A: Yes. Both NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America) are internationally recognized organizations with global industry credibility.

Q: Who are NASM and AFAA?
A: NASM and AFAA are respected certification organizations that provide education and credentials in health, fitness, and athletic performance fields. They offer evidence-based certifications recognized in gyms, sports programs, and fitness centers worldwide.

Exams, Plagiarism, and Course Completion

Q: What happens if I plagiarize or cheat on an exam?
A: Students found cheating will be removed from the course or placed on probation. Re-enrollment is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and any future participation may be closely monitored.

Q: Can I test out of a national exam?
A: Some national certification exams allow for testing without completing the full course. However, students are generally allowed only one attempt per calendar year. Check the specific policy for your certification track.

Q: What is an originality report?
A: It’s a report generated by plagiarism detection software that compares a student’s submission to other sources to ensure the work is original.

Q: Is the final exam open book?
A: Yes, but it is timed. You may use your notes, but excessive searching may reduce your time to answer questions. Prepare thoroughly before the exam.

Q: What happens if I finish all assignments but fail the final exam?
A: In most cases, you will receive a Certificate of Participation instead of a full Certificate of Completion.

Q: How much data will I need to complete an online course?
A: Most students will use about 15 GB of data throughout the course, assuming steady engagement.

Scheduling and Logistics

Q: Can I take breaks during the course?
A: Yes. However, students are expected to demonstrate weekly progress. Extended inactivity without communication may result in withdrawal from the course without refund.

Q: How much time do I have to finish a course?
A: Students have up to 12 months from enrollment to complete most courses.

Q: How many students are allowed in each course?
A: Currently, there is no enrollment cap during the initial phases. This may change as course demand increases.

Q: How do I find a practical implementation or internship site?
A: We encourage students to connect with community centers, education offices, local churches, or school athletic departments to explore hands-on opportunities. Guidance is available from our staff if needed.

Q: Can parents enroll in courses too?
A: Yes, parents may enroll with administrator approval. ASAA encourages lifelong learning for families and adult learners.
