Fundamental Track & Field


This course provides a comprehensive study of all events in track and field, equivalent to a National Federation applied study. It is designed for students and coaches who seek to deepen their understanding and proficiency in the sport.


Course Content:

1. Event Overview:

  Running Events:

  • Sprints, middle-distance, and long-distance races.

Hurdles and Steeplechase:

  • Techniques and strategies for hurdle events and the steeplechase.

 Relay Races:

  • Baton passing techniques, team coordination, and strategies for 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

 Jumping Events:

  • Long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault techniques.

 Throwing Events:

  • Shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw techniques.

 Combined Events:

  • Overview of decathlon and heptathlon, focusing on the unique challenges of each event.


2. Practical Application:

  •   Hands-on training sessions for each event.
  •   Development of individualized training plans.
  •   Implementation of strength and conditioning programs tailored to track and field athletes.


3. Implementation Assessment:

  •  Continuous assessment through practical exercises and drills.
  •  Regular feedback sessions to improve technique and performance.
  •  Mid-term evaluations to track progress and adjust training plans as necessary.


4. Proctored Final Exam:

  1.   A comprehensive written exam covering the theoretical aspects of all track and field events.
  2.   A practical exam where students demonstrate proficiency in selected events.
  3.   An oral exam to assess understanding of training methodologies and event strategies.

By the end of the course, participants will have a thorough understanding of track and field events, enhanced practical skills, and the ability to implement effective training programs. Successful completion will be validated through a final proctored exam, ensuring a high standard of knowledge and application in the sport.
